If this is for an HTPC and you have no specific, demanding needs, then go with a Core i3 and a lesser GPU. You're shooting yourself in the foot by getting higher end parts for that because there's more cost, more power use, more heat...
That motherboard doesn't make it appear so. With stock cooling, you will be limited, but you may be able to get to 3.6GHz, give or take.

So you mean like Internet Connection Sharing? I know you said you tried, but Google turns up plenty of guides.
Try something like Recuva. If it's not been overwritten, yes, there's a chance you can get some (or all). Any disk writes at all can overwrite a small part of them, so act sooner rather than later!
From one of the comments, it's a GeForce GT 640 with GDDR5 (instead of DDR3) memory? At that rate, might it not even compete with the GeForce GTX 550 Ti!? Edit: Beaten to it by seconds...
