Well i spoke to him earlier and he's unwilling to spend any money on it xD
Think i'll try the recovery disc method and see what that does. If that does nothing then i guess he's stuck with it til it breaks.

I'd prefer not to use ubuntu. As i said, its my dads laptop and he's used to windows. Also you must know that...
My dads laptop is really slow, painfully so. Its a 5+ year old Toshiba Satellite L300D-18E and good enough for him, apart from the slowness.
Now, im trying to sort it out for him, but have no knowledge at all of laptops.
