I would look what that cathode line might have touched, if you were using distilled water you should be fine with it not transferring electricity to any of the connected components. Why the Cathode line shorted is what you should be...

When you bleed your system did you rock your PC back and forth. Pretty much had to hold my PC in the air and almost do a 360 with it to get the air out of the rads. Rock it so the barbs of the rad at at the top and shake to get any air...
