I don't think your first shots look 'bad', it's just that they are over saturated IMO.

My experience on downsampling ME is that only menus get fuzzy/blurry for some reason, the actual gameplay seems to respond to it. (at least my framerate tells me so).

I'd wait a little longer before trying anything drastic like an OS resintall. Honestly, there are plenty of topics on BSOD's/complete system lockups with the 780 over the geforce.com forums, I'd wait for more stable drivers if I were you.
