AMD and Nvidia are so close to eachother that it's pretty much personal preference. I will probably buy an AMD when i get around building a gaming desktop. From reviews they seem to have the best price/performance in my price point...

I wouldnt risk using both linux and windows for critical systems. And it would surprise me if they did. Maybe this is just for the computers they use to proces data or whatever they do in the space station.
