it manages to beat it at some things but its not that far off in performance from it in general
If your motherboard can unlock disabled/hidden cores, some newer athlon x4 640's (E0 stepping, zosma core) can unlock to a 6 core and in some cases the l3 cache can unlock too.
Neither of those processors can overclock (well. you can bclk overclock but that only gets you like 50 or 100mhz increase maybe, bclk overclock is basically non-existant on sandy and ivy.)
You need a "K" chip to overclock well. (such as...
