Glad to be reading this thread. I purchased a 7970 in the beginning of the year and got rid of it quickly due to these issues. I bought another one today and expect it to work now. 

Link to the GPU. Includes original box and all original accessories, I will even put the blue protective caps on the PCI slot and DVI. They are not currently on because the card was just removed to photograph till the replacement...

The cheapest VZW S3 for sale is $310 on swappa. Not sure why you don't think they hold value.
