I know Sony was pondering the principal sales of their Blu-Ray holdings for capital recovery. Considering all the other hands on the table, I think it would be a shot in the foot. On the other side of things, it would be a good thing...

Let's say I test this, and there is an issue with it upon boot. Is there any specified or implied warranty on parts, even though it's been tampered with in a way that not even Sony will validate the warranty?

I got one of these @ $575 around the beginning of the year. Wasn't a bad deal, even then.

They don't call us the glorious PC master race for nothing..... if there are games you can play on your PSX/PS2 that you're willing to invest into on a PS3, you need the Emotion Engine in order to play them, as some of the code work...
