you could always go with one of the external hdd jbod enclosures. a lot of them come with the pci-e adapter card needed to get up and running.

which sata ports do you have them plugged into? according to Asus's site, you want em plugged into the gray ports as these are the sata 6gb ports. the other ports are sata 3gb, and right about the speeds you're getting.
