The 960t was indeed released, and was even in stock at NewEgg for some time. Problem is that it was just a way to get rid of some defective x6 chips after they were EOL, so not many were actually made.

Not only that, but the LanParty boards are notoriously hard to deal with for newcomers. They are aimed at people who know what exactly they need to do with the hardware. The BIOS settings were mostly obscure and changed from one BIOS...
Ill bite, what is LMC?
4+1 VRM is not an issue if it is properly cooled. I have an old DFI LanParty AM2+ board running a Phenom I Chip (140W) overclocked by 600mhz or so. Its probably pulling close to 200W but handles it fine with a 4+1 VRM.
My x2 550be does not unlock at all. If I play with enableing or disabling cores I can get it to post with 3 cores, but its super unstable.
Ive noticed lower overclocks on my Phenom II chips when in an older DDR-2 board. Not sure if it is caused by memory controller issues or lack of good support for the chips in the BIOS. My x2 550 maxes out at 3.4 on AM2+ and 3.7 on...
Answers in order of questions... 3.7-3.9Ghz is the upper end for the c2 chips. Yes Usually not. Not sure about it being a solid upgrade from an e4400 though. With a decent MB those were overclocking demons from what I remember. ...
On topic here, the FX-4170 is fairly close to the FX-8150 in many game scenarios at stock speeds on both chips. It also outperforms its nearest priced Intel competitor, the i3 series. Also at stock speeds. *excepting some more Intel...
Zalman Performa is a terrible heatsink for overclocking. Oops, only saw the 92mm one. You want 120mm or 140mm minimum for high end air overclocking on the FX line. *with a decent speed fan* Direct heatpipe contact helps as well due...
