I speak from experience with people that like big numbers no matter what the actual performance. I bench my systems based on time to boot and time to start applications, not just 3dmark. If you want actual performance you always deal...
You are fine, volts on FX are not considered high until 1.5v. ~1.45v is about normal for the speed you are running.
It only feels faster because in your mind larger numbers are faster, its almost like a placebo effect.
With a huge core contact 120mm tower style HSF, up to high 50's at 4.6Ghz. Got to 70c at 4.8Ghz
Bought an FC-4100 on launch, was not too terribly disappoint. OC'd to 4.6Ghz or so, but ran hot as hell. FX-4170 may be binned better allowing more OC headroom on average.
I have an Phenom II X2 550 BE... It performs the same with the same core clock, regardless of the base clock. And higher throughput is not true either, as you most likely have to take the hypertransport multiplier down to compensate for...
Running the base clock that high has no real benefits on most AMD processors. The only reason to drop the multiplier is to get away from the 0.5 ones or push the bus up a bit to oc memory more, which does not get much of an improvement...
Its as possible for us to change our opinion about it as it is for an AV proponent to swear it off forever. What work for you works for you. I dont need some random want to be internet boffin to tell me that I am a nitwit for not...
Its not dangerous in the least. The only reason it is set up like that from the get go was to reduce heat output from the sram cache in the cpu_nb. They are good for the same operating voltage due to being made from the same materials,...
what are the available settings?
