I had FreeNAS going for a while and I really like using it. It did everything I needed it to. I had a NAT rule set up in my router so that I could SFTP to it from my phone or computers at school. Very fun to play with.
Monoprice has two 24-port switches, one is gigabit, the other is fast Ethernet. Both are unmanaged and rack mountable with hardware included. I have two 8-port monoprice switches, both of which work great. I haven't had a single problem...
Looking for gigabit or want to save some money with a 10/100?
