I believe the receiver is doing all of the processing of the digital signal. A sound card may help, but with a purely digital signal I'm a little skeptical.
I've never tried the DT880s (or the Q701s for that matter). The only open headphone I have is the Grado SR225i, and if they leak as much as my Grados do the answer is: a lot.
