I'm just wondering, as why else would it help to Thread.Sleep there? You might also be overloading the GPU...

Saw your SO post, and I'm thinking: maybe you're polling TOO fast, that it can't handle it. Could you stopwatch the code where putting the Thread.Sleep(500) helped?
