I have used both USB and regular jack (on board) headphones. I find you get a "crisper" sound using the jacks as opposed to the USB Style. Now maybe i was un lucky with my USB headphones selection but i could not replace them fast enough...

also Mac hardware will limit what version of OSX you install. so even if you do upgrade all the components you want the highest version you could install will most likely be 10.6.8, just keep that in mind as well. Good Luck

Wifi for sure is your bottle neck here. Now, what sizes are the hard drives? I would use which ever hard drive has the most space. Storage capacity would trump speed any day for network storage.
