It's a sub enclosure, no need to be concerned about standing waves as sub frequencies are generally the size of a living room. Stuffing such as fiberglass or preferably polyfill, or denim insulation will help with unwanted harmonics box.

A speaker amp is the best way to drive HE-6's without breaking the bank for a high power headphone amp. Also, nice review!

If you have very efficient speakers, reference level may even be over 105db since the processor/receiver can attenuate each channel only so much...
