It does work all of the time for me now. I did update windows and my drivers as well as clearing cmos once sometime over the past few days so that may have solved the issue for me. Can't be sure though since I don't remember when I did...
I have no idea why but after I restarted my computer cpu-z and hwmonitor are working fine again. Maybe try a restart and see how that goes?
