On a side note OP, you could potentially donate that computer to another user on OCN if you're planning on tossing it away. Maybe just have another user pay applicable S&H fees.

To be honest OP, I would recommend waiting until the Nvidia 7xx and AMD 8xxx series get released. I think you'd be better of waiting until then (unless money issues regarding power consumption) to see what the new hardware is going to...
I would say a GTX 690/7990 as they're 'single' card solutions, both while having dual GPU's embedded.
But in the same notion, you won't have less power being drawn from either of those cards.
