The tamron he is referring to is actually the Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 Di-II and probably the Tamron 70-200mm F/2.8 Di SP AF lens (although Canon, Nikon, Sigma all have their own variations). 70-200mm The flashes are the 580EX II and 430EX II
You may as well get the 550D then. It'll be the best for video. Marin will tell you that as well.
It's ok, you have the 17-55 IS!
The T2i, 7D, and 1D Mark IV can shoot at 720p at 60 frames per second. They also have reduced rolling shutter artifacts as compared with other cameras and the 5D Mark II.

If you are serious about movies, then Canon is the way to go. T2i, 7D, 5D Mark II, and 1D Mark IV are the cameras to get. here's a little guide I wrote
