Not overclocked, everything stock. Reference cooler. What is the max safe temp? And if above safe temp could overheating be causing whole computer to stutter out real bad and cause mouse or inputs of any kind to cause a beeping sound...
My current setup. Spent a few days tinkering with this to get it just how I want it. Am looking for ideas to add to it though. [[SPOILER]] I even made pseudo docks for myself with it. Prefer them to the old way I was doing things.

Most likely not measureable. The few times I've connected my keyboard / mouse / n52te through the hub to test something I couldn't see a difference. That may change if you are saturating the usb speed though, not sure. Didn't try it...
Bumping. New issues as well. Beginning to think this is a usb problem with the motherboard now. The beeping still happens occasionally, now outside of game as well as in game. The front ports on my case have been having issues sometimes...
Sounds like a dead nic. Sadly they do not last forever. Do you have a pci or pci-e one you can try? I highly doubt it's drivers as windows is pretty good about having basic driver's for damn near everything... at least in my experience.
