I also bought a Gigabyte 7970 WindForce 3X GV-R797OC-3GD, after flashing multiple bios's from different vendors and ghz bios, i returned it and got a msi hd7970 oc. Paying so much money for a card and not being able to overvolt is...
Probably because Prime95 gives 100% full cpu load, and picks the Highest VID giving Highest set Vcore. Games do not give 100% load, so it doesnt get the highest VID so not the highest voltage, to counter this a bit use a LOW LLC LEVEL...
Guys you can play Easy, Normall and Hard. The ranger mode is a seperate mode that can also be played on easy, this is about the RANGER MODE. Just like it was DLC for metro 2033......
It is just crazy to see how hot a Ivy really gets. Im running a Zalman cnps12x, this cooler is comparable to Noctua D14 and Thermalright Silver Arrow. It can run 1.49v on a 2500k, and dont even breach the 85c barrier, crazy a IVY cpu...
Yea that is the term i used to, He beleaved that the increased VRM gave him 0.1 second faster in IBT, but that is just the Margin of Error in those benchmarks.
Allright guys, Thanks for the posts, i allready had a feeling it was just for voltage. But now i must try convince my friend, that he doesnt get extra gflops from setting it to 410hz instead of default 300hz.
Yes i thought it was just a setting that affects power delivery to the CPU. A friend of mines say he scores more GFLOPS in IBT, and ''Folders/Software'' opens faster in Windows. I told him it is just Placebo effect because you think...
Still perfectly safe voltage zone. I run my 2500k since LAUNCH DATE on 1.48v 4.9ghz, still runs like a champ. Gaming temps around 60c-70c, Stresstesting temps around 70c-80c
Hello, Lets say you have a 2500k running 4000mhz. Will the cpu be faster on 410hz vrm switching frequency then on 350hz frequency? I thought the vrm frequency was only a setting that affects the cpu voltage stablilty, a friend of mine...
Funny, 75% of people saying haswell is no good upgrade have the Ivy Bridge platform. Going from sandy to Ivy that was a bad upgrade (In my opinion) Mostly thx to higher temps. But going from Sandy to Haswell should be a decent upgrade
