The 3x i7 running costs are approx £60/$91 a month. So the costs can add up. I would expect the FX 8320 to put approx £20/$30-25/$38 on his parents electric bill a month. Edited FX8350 cost taking it at 250W might be a little over.
If your main reason to get the FX8320 is to fold on I would probably hang fire. The AMD FX8150 doesnt return as high PPD per watt as the i5 2500 and I cant see the FX8350 being much better. I currently have an i5 2500 None K system...
