What brand/model SSD? You can also run SSDLife to do some quick SSD diagnostics. Some SSDs are not quite reliable to say the least (see: Vertex 3 reviews on newegg as one example.). For more SSD diagnostics and such head over to either...
Good luck with that. All the mobile Core i (except the -XM's) are hardware locked, no way to overclock them. At best you're looking at BLCK overclocking which sounds absurdly sketch for a laptop.

15.6" is ~1" "longer", but a little smaller on the width (smallest dimension of footprint). The 6165 is also ~.2" thicker. Still I would, it's just an insane increase in screen area and resolution. 900p isn't bad, but 1080p on a 15" is...

I'd go with Sager NP6165 or the new Sager w/ 660M (NP6365 or something) over the M14x - it weighs less by .5 pounds. Also, its not fair to compare the R1 to the R2 - even if everything else is the same, the 3610QM is a 22nm quad-core,...
You said it yourself, you want higher resolution. Between the 2 it's an easy choice, and if it must be a new current-gen Thinkpad, they don't get much cheaper in Europe.
