IMO, the way to start this is in arcades. Not in home, as you are at a massive disadvantage on one of these things compared to someone with a mouse. Once people have played LAN in arcades with ~8 of these things in one game, it'll catch...

Try using the oldest drivers you can find for the 285. I'm sure Nvidia was fully compatible with Halo when it came out, but it's been a while so I doubt they've bothered testing it on such an old game with each driver release.

Haha, the ol' controller in freedom base thing. On my second or third playthrough (years ago) I used OL and hid out from a blowout in freedom base. Then a controller and some other jank spawned. Still my favourite stalker experience...
