I've googled around for an answer to this but I came up with a bunch of conflicting info so I came here. I recently let a friend borrow my portable HDD to use with his Mac book pro and I did so without even thinking about the difference...

Is there any way to test the drive to see if anything looks funny or any signs of impending failure?
The problem is either my SSD or my board. I keep getting random app crashes as well. I wish I knew the source of the problem already.
