from what i've heard/read AMD has deals with Microsoft and Sony to use AMD CPU/GPU combos in the XBOX 720/Infinity and PS4. I also believe the Nintendo Wii U will be using an AMD GPU atleast.. that will bring them some revenue as well
got the gtx460 removed form main rig and popped it into the media box after a quick install of drivers it was off and running like a dream bitstreaming without any hassle at all. nvidia ./win display is delicious now too System...

i think i might just yank my GTX460 out of my main rig as it doesn't really get used at all see how it goes.. if i have trouble can always swap to soemthing else maybe even a HD5450 (only about $45 AUD)
i do have a GTX460 in my main rig as a physics processor but it's pretty much not used at the moment.. i suspect that may be an alternative "free" option too?
