Alright, thanks for the help guys. looks like im getting the gelid since i dont have the patience for thermal glue. lol. temps arent going to matter if thats as hot as its gonna get at max voltage. since im not going to bump voltage up...
So i was looking around and found only one that listed the 7970 and its $160 for an air cooler. Im just looking for a better cooler so i dont go deaf from the stock fan on it. i have no temp problems even with my OC at 1125MHz core and...
Today, i decided to OC my 7970 using msi afterburner. i got a decent OC for only messing with it for an hour. its at 1125mhz core and 1400mhz mem. stock voltage (1175mV) & stable. temps arent holding me back (~30C idle & 68C load...
o ok. i misread that. 32C is 90F so lets say room temp is 74F thats 16F away from room temp. i dont see any problem with this as mine is sitting at 30C as i type this. its not high, its about average for air cooling

just got my rig up and running after it being dead for 3 months. replaced the trash 660ti i had with an MSI 7970 OC edition. still messing with the card so ill have speeds soon EDIT: thermals for me arent bad at all. 27C idle and 65C load

anything from 306.23 and newer caused a bsod after installing them on a fresh install of rrelease preview win 8 and win 7 ultimate. Gtx 660 ti with a gtx 260 for physx. Corrupts my fresh install every time. $1600 rig sitting there now....
yeah starting to regret going with nvidia again... $30 more and from what ive read on my problem, doesnt happen to ati users... i mean the card when it is working, its amazing but i cant put up with their bs... EDIT: they seriously got...
so i dont know if i put this in the right area, all i know is it started with me buying a gtx 660 ti. long story short, i had my card working and running for 9 days and then my psu went up. bought a new one (an overkill i know......
