If you have 4 LEDs in series that require 3 volts each, and are being fed a 12v supply you don't need any resistors.
i.e. 3v x 4LEDs = 12v's
Resistors are only needed to lower the volts getting to the LEDs. Plus LEDs can usually be overvolted anyway.

usually you're supossed to wire leds to the 5 volt source and use a resistor to tune it down to 3volts and then wire them parallel instead of in a circle. If you do it that way the leds will last longer.
