hmm, i read somewhere that starting the PSU without enough load on it... i.e without a mobo and a few drives would screw the psu up real bad?

I had jumped my psu to test my water cooling setup without having mobo ect in.

If you fear that you don't have enough load, then plug in some fans and optical drives and hdd's. You'll be just fine

Yeah that is true with most electronics, like power boxes \ amplifiers \ anything that is supplying power for something basically. If you run it without anything to release the load onto. it will cause damage after an extented period of time . Its like having a fire going in a small room and usingthe heat to move something. then all teh sudden you close that source thats running off the fire and the fire gets bigger and bigger with no where to go and eventually destroys it self. BUT little bits at a time wont do much. Just thought id let ya guys know.

hmmm i already knew how to hotwire a psu but always good to let the rookies know, right ?
i know you can kill an amp by powering it without any load but i've tried killing an old PSU by running it without a load and i've been running the psu for 3 moths non stop and still no problems.
sooo i geuss that myth is busted...
