I was trying to sand the IHS completely OFF, still didn't make it but it's much thinner now..

Why not just take it off the easy way? It's a lot faster, you carefully cut the edge and heat it up slightly until the IHS pops right off, much easier than sanding it off imho,

Didn't he have one that had the die soldered onto the IHS? like, if you take the IHS off the "traditional" way, the CPU die comes off with it?

or am I mixing another thread or two up?

Wish I had big paper like that when I lapped. Much easier then having to switch little ones all the time.
