I voted other as I have multiple systems, not all with the same brand of CPU, and some (older ones) with brands not listed.

What I favor at any given time is simply what performs best for the money I'm willing to spend at any given time.

In the pentium days, I used Intel Pentiums and Pentium MMXs.

After that I used AMD K6s as they were nearly the match for the PIIs but were cheaper.

Later I considered a Pentium III, but the Athlon showed up, and it was better. I stayed with AMD through Slot A, Socket A, Socket 754, and Socket 939. During that time, AMD was hands down the better choice, except for a 6 month gap when the P4Cs ruled. I considered getting one of those, but the A64 showed up and smashed that idea to pieces, so I never bought a P4 for myself.

It was a complete reversal when the Core 2s appeared. Intel's Pentium Ms had been doing really well clock for clock, and I knew Core 2 was going to be huge (it's a 4 issue Pentium M with some revisions). I was running dual-core opterons at the time, but Core 2 was such a vast improvement that I could not stay AMD. I bought an E2140, clocked it to 3.2GHz, and watched as a 70 dollar Intel chip murdered my 3GHz Opteron 170 in every task I threw at it.

I was looking forward to the Phenom, but AMD botched that badly, and the Phenom II while a distinct improvement, was too little to late. So, for the last several years I've primarily been using Intel chips.

If and when AMD really puts out a better chip, I'll be one of the first people to defect to them again. My only loyalties when it comes to computing are performance and value.

I use both AMD and Intel.

AMD ONLY in the days before Core. I use Intel in ALL laptops. AMD has yet to make a laptop processor I am satisfied with. I use AMD in a few of my desktops and I use AMD's in all of my hosting and work servers. Although, I still have some quad core Xeon machines, and I love them. Ive also got a couple Intel desktops around here as well.

I use both companies, But I love AMD.
