This would take the fun out of it for him, but i'm sure that if you build and ship it in the original case box it might be cheaper. You can also keep the boxes or flatten them to send for RMA things...

I think I might go with that setup, but pick up a 720BE & Gigabyte 790X board

Because the 720BE should be enough, and give the order free ground shipping.
