unless you want to drop the gpu for the integrated one of the 790X board, the cost is nearly identical at $300 for the Q8400/EP43 or the X3 920/790X. I think you would get better performance from the quad over the tri.

Dont forget, the WD caviar black 1TB and the Q8400 both give the whole order free shipping already.

I'd have to agree. DirectCanada is generally cheaper then NCIX, and NCIX is generally cheaper then Newegg.ca. All computer hardware I bought was from Direct Canada and it would have cost at least $100 more if I bought it from NCIX.

The only problem with Direct Canada is that their site isn't as friendly to navigate. Though NCIX owns and operates them oddly enough.

vs
http://www.directcanada.com/products...TERN%20DIGITAL

Gigabyte EP43-UD3L ATX LGA775 - NCIX is $1 cheaper (lol not much but still)
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...3&promoid=1078
vs
http://www.directcanada.com/search/?kw=EP43-UD3L

OCZ XTC Platinum Edition PC2-8500 DDR2 4GB - NCIX is $13 cheaper and ram is better

vs
http://www.directcanada.com/products...anufacture=OCZ

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro LGA775 - directcanada is $10 cheaper
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=17225
vs
http://www.directcanada.com/products...CTIC%20COOLING

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Quad Core Processor LGA775 2.66GHZ - NCIX is $30 cheaper

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...4&promoid=1078
vs
http://www.directcanada.com/products...nufacture=ASUS

Vista Home Premium NCIX is $85 cheaper
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=7842

lets not forget the the shipping charge you'll get from directcanada and the possibility of having to pay both pst and gst. (you only pay gst on NCIX)

all in all, NCIX is not only better value, but the website is easier to navigate and has great service. I can not recommend any other site in Canada for buying computers as much as NCIX. (ps im not a bot)

i'd still like to point out that by even just simply replacing the the q8400 and its mobo with the x2 7750 and the same ma790X my build is 1017 after shipping and tax + before $55 rebate. differing mostly only by 2" of screen size and 500GB of hardrive space. At this point I think it may just be up to the OP to decide what he prefers.

btw, you forgot the CPU cooler

he said no overclocking and the AMD stock cpu cooler is much better than intel`s

you also didn't include an OS in your price. They only install the OS if you buy one

hot dayum, your right. Im A little tired but that is true

weeeell,

1017 - 50 + 139 = 1106 total - $55 MIR = $1051 total

he said he wanted a third party cooler even though no overclocking would be done, but if you insist to take out the cooler, its $1020. Again very close with both builds having their own advantages
