I just saw an article about AMD making a combined GPU and CPU chip. In the same article, it mentioned Intel creating more of a gaming version of the chip that would essentially remove the need of a graphics card. These chips would use joint processors that could switch between GPU and CPU tasks.
What is your opinion on this? Would you upgrade to a single chip or would you keep your GPU and CPU as 2 separate things? Summarized based off information found on BusinessWeek.com http://www.businessweek.com/technolo...099_827429.htm

I would keep them separate because I don't see how much power a combined chip has over a discrete card as of right now or in the near future.

Wrong section. This is a discussion/debate not a news article (there isn't even a source).

Sorry about the wrong section, and here is the source 3rd paragraph is the one on Intel and 2nd paragraph is on AMD's "vision" chips which is essentially the same idea
http://www.businessweek.com/technolo...099_827429.htm P.S. I think this would be considered hardware news... if the CPU and GPU are in one isn't that news? (Definition: According to Princeton's Wordnet, news is defined as "information about recent and important events". Things that might fall into this catagory are: * An announcement about a new game * Intel/AMD's latest roadmap * A new record overclock.) I believe this counts as part of the second bullet?

I would be news but you need to change the format of your post for the news section.
