Default Extreme budget, HELP!

I have an extreme budget of $140 to build a computer for my grandfather. I need something that won't light on fire or die right away. Dual core is preferred.

assuming this will be a machine for email and basic computer usage. you can get an intel atom based mini itx with integrated video

you may also be able to find a netbook on craigslist or ebay for super cheap. grandpa doesnt game does he? also first post failed. i forgot about the "dualcore" preffered. some intel atoms are hyperthreaded tho.

Not for nothing, but I've got an Atom 230 myself, and from first hand usage I can tell you that an old P4 system is faster than it is. And cheaper.

you could try a amd athlon x2 series, like a 4200+ or a 5000+. They are very cheap second hand.
You can get a AM2/+ mobo for under $50-60 on newegg with a intergreated gpu of sort.

I will never go PC chips, a AM3 sempron is cheaper, DDR2 is preferable, there are 80GB HDD's cheaper. I am not sure what to go with still :/ I found this LGA 775 foxconn MINI ITX with PCI-Express x16 new for $41
