Ok I am making this computer for a home server, for like my music, movies other random files i need to access on my laptop or net book. When I am making a folding rig, the power supply needs to be "plus gold" or "plus silver" correct? This will increase the efficiency of the power supply, thereby reducing the power usage/ power bill?

XFX HD-477A-YDFC Radeon HD 4770 512MB 128-bit GDDR5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150369 PNY 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820178134 AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz Socket AM3 65W ECS A780GM-M3 AM2+/AM3 AMD 780G Micro ATX http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.263449 That comes up to $407.00 I will probably just stick 2 tb hd's in it in mirrored. Which will add another maybe 150. I will probably either run windows 7 on this thing or arch Linux possibly. Please give me feedback. Nate

All your hardware looks to be in tip top shape. For an operating system, I'd highly recommend Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, 64-bit Server Edition (command-line only). If you're CPU folding, that is. If you'd like to GPU fold, I'd recommend getting a 9600GT or 9600GSO instead of the 4770 (nVidia cards naturally are better folders) as well as running a slim-line version of Windows XP (since GPU folding hasn't come to Linux yet) to save resources and headache.

i'd stay away from ECS motherboards... especially if you want this thing running 100% 24/7

Here's my suggestions: $30 CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-008-_-Product $54 GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-342-_-Product As for the CPU, wait for the 45w Athlon II X2 235e (2.7Ghz) for $70. Since you plan to Fold, go with NVIDIA for a Folding card. This card will produce about 3000ppd. $42 ASUS EN9600GSO/DI/512MD3/V2 GeForce 9600 GSO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-320-_-Product
