Overclocker

I have the system in my sig. My Gigabyte UD3R REV 1.6 MOBO is not the best but it can hold its own. I can overclock with ease my I7 to 4.0 GHz but anything above that requires serious tweaking. I want to reach the 25000 mark in Vantage and I need to bench at around 4.4-4.6 GHz for that. My problem arises here. I cannot make my CPU LINX stable above 4.1 GHz. I managed to boot at 4.2 GHz but LINX died
. I got 1333 MHz memory and this does not seem to be a problem. I put the XMP @ 1.65 for CL7 aggressive timings. Set the ratio to 6.0 to be well within the safety margin. I move next onto the QPI ratio which I set to x36, the uncore part which I set to x16, x15. I set the clock above 205 and take turbo boost and HT off. LLC on and I go for voltage. My successfull 4.1 GHz overclock ran with 1.4 on CPU and 1.3x on QPI. What did I miss to make this thing clock higher? Do I need to tweak on the voltage section or I need to change some of the other settings? Any help would be highly appreciated. I've had so many lock-ups, my screwdriver is always at my side to reset the board . Cheers, Wish ...

Could be it just wants more vcore, with my 920 d0 I can do 200 x 21 @ 1.275 in bios on my ud5, over 200 bclk it starts eating lots of V. for 210 x 21 I have to jump up to 1.393 in bios. To run vantage @ 220 x 21 with HT I feed it close to 1.5.
__________________Your cpu probably scales differently on voltage, if it needs 1.4 for 4.1 ghz it may just need more to do more, be careful with temps. As far as QPI , with 6 gigs ram I leave it at 1.24 - 1.26 for 4.2 Ghz, I up to 1.3 around 4.5 Ghz, so you may be able to get away with less. On classifed mobos a few people have found lowering the cpu pll between 1.3 - 1.8 seems to make it more stable with less voltage, I haven't played with it but if it might help... Also people have reported changing their clock skews have increased stability. Again, something I haven't tried myself. Good luck.

Try not running a XMP Profile set the settings manually. I havent been able to get past 4 personally but thats because I've never tried
