Why would you think it would have something to do with your internet connection? :S Not calling you stupid, just wondering how you came to that conclusion.
Anyhoo, random spikes do happen to pretty much all computers. But the severity and situation are typically different and are what indicate a problem. So, my question(s) is: What are you doing when it spikes? How long does it spike for? Do you have a power option allowing you to switch between "High performance" and "Power saver?" I would suggest hitting ctrl+alt+del and getting into task manager. here you will find a tab called "processes" go in there and sort the processes by CPU usage. Then just monitor that until you get a CPU spike. What ever comes to the top of the list is the culprit. Record the name (if you are not familiar with it) and post it on here. From there I will be able to help you better.

It could be that bitdefender program you are running. That kind of stuff usually causes nothing but problems.
