Hey guys,
I recently just finished my build, see mys sig for details. I was laying in bed this morning with the computer on, and it randomly just turned off. I got up, went to go turn it back on, and the fans spun for maybe half a second, then nothing. Kept trying, reset the bios, same thing. after i try turning it on, it wont turn on for a brief second after that unless i turn the power off on the psu and turn it back on. Any idea whats wrong here? If anything fried im gunna be prettttyyy pissed. Hopefully one of you guys can come up with a real quick fix. +rep obviously for anyone who does.

Could be a PSU issue. Reseat ALL PSU connections.

Yeah. I've had slightly loose PSU -> mobo connections cause a situation like this. Make sure ALL power cables are securely connected.

i checked all of the psu cables, they all look as secure as can be. Still does the same thing.

Tried reseating everything? If that doesn't work try running it outside of the case.

Demount the board onto your (preferably wooden) table top and run it caseless. See if you still get this issue.
If not, then your mobo was shorting against the case and so when you put it back in you will need to only screw the board in "finger tight". That means that in principle you should be able to unscrew each screw with just your fingers. In practice this means when you first feel resistance on the screwdriver, go only a quarter turn more and STOP THERE.

Have you disconnected EVERYTHING in the case except for the CPU, one stick of RAM, and the power to the mobo? I've even heard of fans causing shorts like this.

I haven't reseated EVERYTHING yet, only cause of the watercooling and such, i want to try to avoid having to take everything out. could i loosen all the screws on the mobo and maybe secure those "finger" tight?
