hi all. i would like to speed up my machine but dont know how. specs are:
M4A78 PRO Motherboard AMDx2 7750 Black Edition + stock h/s and fan, core VID=1.250 Corsair 2x2gig ddr2 800MHz Ram Zotac nvidia 9600 gso ddr3 512meg graphics card OCZ 700watt psu Maxtor sata ll 160gig hdd XP Pro+SP3+ updates so far all i have done is up the multiplier to x15 (=3010 mhz). x16 (=3.2mhz)and x15.5 (=3.1mhz) caused bsod when converting movies from divx to dvd although everything else seemed to work fine. would like to get from 2.7 to stable 3.2/3.4 or so speed. have no idea how to change the voltage or anything else, or what to, or what else may have to be changed. is any other info required? is any REALLY patient person, with REALLY easy to follow steps, prepared to advise a complete idiot, please? would be most grateful |

If you could post some shots of your BIOS, we could probably guide you through where you need to go.

You can overclock by either raising the multiplier or the FSB. Raising the multi will only overclock your CPU. Raising the FSB will overclock everything. You may have to raise some voltages in order to a stable overclock.

hi again. as you can see from the pics and my info in first post, have upped the multiplier already. any higher and the system is unstable when doing conversions. i assume that is because it is cpu intensive. trouble is, i have no idea what to change the fsb to and if voltage increase is needed, no idea what to change that to either. what do i change first and by how much? what would be acceptable temps? this overclocking is totally new to me, hence why i said originally i am a complete idiot. could you please explain in more stupid-proof terms? maybe indicate on the pics i uploaded? tnx
