Default $600 Build

Researching in parts for a rig that I'm gonna build for a friend. This is mostly for WoW so he doesn't really need a quad core. He needs everything except for a case. I can get him Win7 for $30. I'm trying to decide whether to get him a cheap dual core and oc it or futureproof it and go with a newer motherboard that supports ddr3. AKA Wolfdale or the new AMDs

He has a budget of $700 including tax and shipping. Taking that and the os out, I would say around $600 for everthing else, including a monitor.

Any opinions on this would be great, thanks!

Well ram is more expensive, the e8400 is still expensive, and I'm not sure if there are any alternatives to the 4850. Plus, the monitor is a big chunk of the total too

This is under $700 with the one rebate, but shipping may take it a little over. I don't know where else to cut corners.

I'm guessing you would want to replace the GPU with something a little cheaper, but I would spend that little bit extra to get the 5770.

AMD Athlon II X4 630 $111.14
Biostar A2+ or A3+ 790GX Motherboard around $110 (Has IGP but if you want to upgrade I'll put options for it)
RAM - $70
ATI 4650 512MB - $55
PSU - I try not to suggest PSU's because generally, I pick out one I like and then wait for someone to buy it, submit the rebate, and then sell the PSU on ebay and snag one for super cheap.
Case - Generally, you can find a case/psu combo for around $50 which is a much better deal as long as Aesthetics aren't one of his big issues
Optical - $20
Samsung 22" Monitor around $200

Total: $617 does not include rebates or anything else and most things are an overestimate. I would personally suggest you shop around and in different places. I tend to find better deals that way. Also, doesn't include a HDD. Right now, you can get a WD Caviar Black 500GB drive for $50 but I like to wait until they release a 1TB drive in the $60 price range myself and then partition it out accordingly.

Wow thanks for all the suggestions guys. I talked over with my friend and we thought it would be better to go with AMD/DDR3. How well does that $99 quad overclock? Would it be worth it over a higher clocked dual or triple core? I haven't really read anything lately on how AMD oc's nowadays.
