Yep, rig is 24/7 stable with prime and passes 250 runs with ITB @ maximum.

Wow, I was gone like 20 mins. and had a load of responses...much appreciated. I'm running small fft's...usually can only get like 15-20 mins. before crashing (black screen then going to blue screen with some error codes, but too quick to get a screenshot). I'm new to this (if you haven't guessed already). I'm only running 3.6Ghz now (overnight on prime95 was stable at this speed) by upping the multiplier to 18. Anytime I make ANY adjustment to the multiplier by half or HT then pretty quick crash on small fft's. I have manually set the cpu voltage to 1.4125, as the auto setting seemed to run too hot. It seems as though I can only go to about 1.45 volts before my cpu runs too hot in Prime. I have seen where people are running on air close to 1.5v, but my cpu would fry in no time at that voltage. Not sure what the deal is there b/c I have great ventilation and relatively low idle temps (30c). I honestly think it's something simple that I am totally missing here. I'm an impatient noob...that just may be the biggest problem of them all

admorris, i can understand being frustrated at failed overclock after failed overclock. We all were new to computers and ocing at some point. There are a lot of knowldgeable people on ocn that would love to help you, all you need to do is start a "need help ocing" thread in the right area
__________________![]() What NoGuru says is possible, if you have an unstable cpu theres a small chance it could corrput data on your hdd... Just an FYI, i wouldn't expect an oc over 4.2ghz with that cpu... amds are great, but the 955 usually tops out at 4ghz, and the 965 usually tops out at 4.2ghz.

Yea, frustrated is a GOOD word for it...haha. I'm definitely not new to computers, but 100% new to oc'ing...I think that is what is frustrating me. I honestly would be happy at 3.8-3.9Ghz...4 would be absolutely awesome. I know at some point (as with all things new) that I will look back at this and realize how easy it was...but I'm not at that point right now. I don't see how my chip would handle 4ghz with it getting so hot running at 3.8. Oh well, thanks everyone for all the responses, I really do appreciate it. I think I just need to grow some patience and go slooooow. I believe I am making too many changes at once instead of exhausting all options on one change at a time before moving on to another option.
