Default Anybody Have The Desktop MSI Wind?

Does anybody have the desktop version of the MSI Wind? If so, do you recommend it for web browsing, looking at digital camera photos and occasionally music? Also how sluggish is it?

i own the regular Wind U100 netbook, and looking at the "desktop version", it has the same cpu, ram, and gma. I'd venture to guess the mobo is pretty close too. That being said, i love the wind. As long as you keep a clean install of xp or windows 7, it runs surprisingly well.
It will do all the regular stuff like web browsing/email, digital photos, torrenting, and standard def video without breaking a sweat. It can run older games like half-life 1, NoX, and unreal tournament 2003 fairly well.
It has trouble with 720p video, autocad 2010, running vista, and complex filters in photoshop.
Oh and windows 7 startup is almost as fast as my sig rig

Hope this helps!

Looked at building something like this?

I will be getting one for my wife soon, Just add a HDD, RAM and Optical drive (optional) and you have a decent basic computer for less than $200.

Some tiny desktops make use of laptop HDDs, so the 500gb you have laying around most likely will not be compatible.

Would definitely go with that over an MSI Wind desktop. The newegg barebone has the dual core Atom where as the Wind has the N230 (single core). You could throw in your HDD and a SATA disk drive as well and be good to go for less.

Only difference between laptop and desktop harddrives are power draw, size, and speed. Current gen drives use the same SATA interface.

True, but MSI does support overclock via the bios. My wind netbook goes from 1.6ghz to 2.0ghz with the touch of a button. With the faster cpu and ram, the n230 could probably go toe-to-toe with the dual-core. But the foxconn setup is also $10 cheaper

Also, you can use a desktop dvd and hdd in the wind... and probably the foxconn too
