Hello all,
Yes, I am a noob when it comes to building a computer and overclocking as I have never done it before, so I have come to this great forum to ask for help. My budget is +/- $1k. I would like to do something similar to this as I would like to develop an iphone app: http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to...tart-to-finish I don't know if its possible, but I would like to do some overclocking to get better performance. It seems that the only necessary part was the motherboard. Any tips help would be great. I would also like to run windows 7, xp, and possibly linux on it. Also, would like to mod my xbox 360 which I believe requires eSATA, so if that's possible that would be great as well. Thanks for listening, any help would be greatly appreciated! -Afishl1(obviously not so official here as I'm a total noob lol) |

wow, thanks for the quick replies!
I think i will need intel to do be able to use xcode and specifically interface builder with cocoa touch for 3.0< I will not need a monitor atm as will would like to use my rear projection hdtv. I want to get great/powerfull processor or one that can be overclocked to be powerful, and a motherboard that will allow me to expand later down the road. For now I think a max of 4gb ddr3 expandable to 16 or 32. For video card I'm a lil torn, but thinking the mac osx will be more compatible with nvidia? I think i will go small on the HD at first, but I would like a case that has slots to add more later. |

Go i7 920 then, eh? You can easily hit 4 GHz on that thing.
Intel and nVidia it is ![]() I'll leave the rest to you brilliant geniuses and check back later.

You have a lot of paths to go down here, you need to narrow your preferences a bit with some additional research but just one quick suggestion I can make is 16 gb and for that matter 32 gb!!! is completely overkill from what I can see in reference to your requirements for this build. Don't bother leaving room for that amount of ram please.

I'd direct you to an uber awesome thread for overclocking, but you don't have the right board for it
