Anyone ever fried a cpu by overclocking, and not when you were actually trying to fry it?

I know someone who fried a Q6600 when trying to push it to 4.5 or something on LN2 <.< Pushed 1.8v through bastards and still didn't die nor do what he wanted, so he did like 1.85 and thing booted then poof.

Never as long as I had my head on straight. I accidently dumped too much current to a Pentium 3 when I first started. This was just because of my ignorance though. I was trying to get 1GHz back in 'the' day and accidentally put something around 2.9v through the chip. I was young ((23 now)) and didn't think that .7v extra would be very much. I was like there is no way that they would let me break it. ((I was wrong))

I have killed, how many GPUs again?
1 - stupidity (plugged it in while system was on (power cable)) - POOF 2 - Killed while overclocking to 1100MHz (1.32v on core for a 4770 )3 - Killed 5770 with a bad flash and the thing was buggy as hell! GPUs that I didn't kill but died 1 - GTX260 - VRM failed and caught fire - Sent it in for an RMA and had a new one with in weeks of sending it on 2 - 4850 - Killed because of a fault, POS power supply... CPUs killed: e5200 - Bad PSU Mobos killed: Asus P5Q-SE - Bad PSU Total money spent in repairs/new parts.... little over 800 USD Eperience gained: PRICELESS

I have fried two MSI P6N-SLI-FI 650i motherboards, but for some reason my E6750 did not break even though it temporarily reached 100C!
