Default Overclocking damage from BSODs or restarting?

Hey guys i'm kind of new here and to building PC's in general so go easy a bit lol. I've just finished by second ever PC build and really want to properly learn about overclocking. I have an i7 920 and want to see what it can do. I have just a quick question. Can any damage come what so ever from BSODS or multiple system crashing from setting things like the FSB too high or BLCK to find your processors limits as long as i don't set my CPU voltage and other voltages too high? Is voltage misuse and (obviously temps) the only way you can damage your parts from overclocking? I'm asking this because i know the i7 is safe to about 1.375v so if that is the case i would like to try lots and lots of BLCK speeds and memory timing to see what the max overclock i can get it but i'm worried abouyt causing damage from BSOD'ing or multiple system restarts through trial and error (which i don't think you can)?

Thanks.

when it comes to o/c its just trial and error if u get bsod wont be a problem. Just reset cmos and start over. Also make sure you have a after market cooler to.

You shouldn't be able to hurt anything unless you crank the voltage. BSOD's won't hurt anything, either.

Actually, you can ruin the OS if you BSOD and dont shut off(correctly) repeatedly. I recently had it happen from a dying video card. You can also ruin your OS install and corrupt it if you overclock to a level that makes your pcie bus unstable(had it happen a couple times actually)

That's not a problem as i can just re-install the OS, at least it wouldn't harm my actual system components which is all i'm worried about.

Yeah, no need to worry about physical damage since you're not overclocking to the level where that would be a problem.
