Default 7950GT volts up, temps down?

eVGA 7950GT KO SC, stock 600/725, autoclocks to 645/826

using NiBitor, added .05v, from 1.45 to 1.5

result: 648/841, but memory unstable, reduced to 825

the funny thing is the card was 88-89 C. under load, now barely breaks 80 C. with higher voltage!

anyone else seen this kind of effect?

Hi and welcome to the forum.Plz fill up your system specs on top of the page in the user cp.And you need better cooling in that card.Mine only reach like 40c volt mod.And mine volt mod is not in bios is with the circuit pen and pencil.I have the 1.55 and the 2.25 mod.

sorry if I wasn't clear -

when I upped the voltage .05 the temp DROPPED about 10 C.

maybe the extra .05v makes the fan more efficient?

The temperature probe within the core of the GPU is designed to operate at a specific voltage. When you alter the voltage going into the core of the GPU, you are also altering the voltage at which the temperature probe operates at. Thus the temperature probe can no longer be considered a precise measurement for GPU temperature. This is where your fluctuation is coming from.

I have a 7950GT Evga @ 550/700 (550/1400) stock ..
I oc'ed it a bit to 560/840 and it was still stable .
I'm going to put a 120mm side case fan thats gonna basically hit the GPU since I'm not planning on modding things like that. is it possible to overmolt for any better things?

mine is 50-55c idle .. maybe 70c max full load i cant recall
