Default Default BIOS Vcore danger

i was thinking about performing a vcore mod to add 0.4v to the actual amount in the bios on an old motherboard

ive had some answers such as "just buy a different motherboard", but this is not what i want to do.

1 question, and a big one;

If my bios loads default, and thus happes to load a max vcore it alows of 1.4v, this will then push 1.8v through my cpu, probably doing some damage.

is this likely to happen? how does the bios define what voltage to use? Will it conpensate for the .4 extra actual volts thus lowering the vcore?

thanks for your help

.4v is much voltage for one step, I suggest to you of do .1v changes at time and do tests until you obtain the suitable result

well is this a hard mod like soldering in a variable resister or are you modding the bios itsself,

either way i would suggest setting the minimum in the bios before turning it off and then performing the modd that way you shouldnt be that much hihger then at stock until you go in and change that around

and not saying that it is safe butwhen i was vmodding my asus a8n sli premium i miss adjusted my var resister and it was minimum resistance for a couple of minutes so i had 1.84 going to my opti 170, it was on water and temps stayed below 50c while in bios before i realized my mistake and turned downt he voltage

the chip is still fine to this day

its not actualy increasing the vcore by .4v, what is doing is increaseing what it says in the bios by .4, so if it says 1.4v, its actualy at 1.8 etc, so i would have to set it lower
