AMD Overclocker

I have a 7900GT with stock cooling, and at 560/1720. Seems stable and shows no artifacts. Idle 46-50, load 65-70. Do I have to volt mod this to go higher?(of course with an aftermarket fan). If i buy an aftermarket cooler, can i raise the clocks higher(stable) without vmodding it? Thanks.

I can easily get my 7600GT to 685 core on stock voltage... you shouldn't need a volt mod, just better cooling.

yeap, at 570ish i can start to see artifacts, as well as 1750mem. If i just get a better cooler, i would be able to make it go higher without volt mod?

umm i have a MSI 7900gt HDCP, VIVO card and i can't get the core past 510 w/o getting a decent amout of artifacts in ATI tool scan. The mem is at what i've found to be it's max @ 900(1800 effective) tho w/o artifacting.
any help. bios voltmod, i dunno... something. I'm planning on upgrading to a hd2900xt as soon as they come out and i have teh money so...

The 7600gt puts off much less heat, and it's stock voltage is 1.4v. That's the same voltage as the 7900gtx, which explains why you could achieve 685MHz. The 7900gt's stock voltage is 1.2v, so it won't be able to get anywhere near 685MHz without a vmod.
