I am trongly considering modding my P5N32-E SLI but never did a mod myself (yet)
I have no supplies, no soldering gun, nothing... I guess I should start by picking up a good volt-meter... what's the best deal for serious mods? Should I get a gun or find a good shop to have some guy do them for me and show up with pics and the components? (the one I have in mind seems to be quite simple... just six points to solder cables onto) Thanks in advance

I got a multi meter from radioshack. It works just fine for everything you can throw at it. If you wanted to spend a lot of money and get the top of the line go with a Fluke. They are the best IMO that you can get. But the radioshack one will do just fine (the digital one) Link
Also for my soldering I use this one here and it works just fine allthough there are better ones out there.

Also when doing volt mods these little test leads are great for not actually soldering to the mobo (depending on the work ofcourse) Link
Also when using variable resisters make sure to get the little guys like this here. They come in a assorted values but allow fine tuning of a volt mod which will give you greater control and most importantly they dont have the voltage fluctuations like alot of the bigger trimmers so your volt mod will be nice and steaddy

Multimeters are for n00bs... get an oscilloscope!
It really doesn't matter which multimeter you get. Just make sure it can do current and voltage reads.

hehe duckieho is always hardcore, fluke is probably the best for test instruments.
I have a combination multimeter/ amp probe (for electrical) pretty neat too, its a clamp on, you just clamp it on any wire and it reads the amps running through it kind of like this: http://www.electricsuppliesonline.co...diacclmu1.html

wow... did I mention I know diddly about electricity?
![]() I will try to moneky sees monkey does this one fellows... I am trying to do the simple Vdroop mod (pencil) and then the one to raise the voltages needed to be raised for higher FSBs on Quads for my board... there are guys hitting 3.6 with it on Q6600 B3 stepping! and 3.7 with an E6300!!! (+ 100%!) so I will do what the pics say and then concentrate on the OC... also looking for someone to solder for me... I should play it safe being that this is my one and only MoBo and I need it for work... I might get hooked, but currently I can't allow for it... time and cash are scarce... and this sort of thing requires a minimum investment and loads of time... I mean... come on guys... you know how new I am to OCN... ![]() Dukie and the rest of you rul3 for having pied up on the knowledge though... eventually I might get like you guys.. but consider this: technically this is my first build... even though I allready built my current system maaaany times and switched 100% of the components at least twice...

If you must get some old circuit boards and practice on that first. It will make the real thing far easier. You dont want to be soldering for the first time on your only mobo. Maybe think about geting a second mobo or setting a cheapo system up that has volt mods that you can do to it to learn the loops.

If it's your first time, don't do it on hardware you can't replace.
Wait until you have money to replace it, then attempt to solder. As for pencil mods, go for it. Just don't go crazy. Add too much and you can erase. And for which multimeter, just make sure it's digital...other than that anything really is fine.
